The recently completed second floor of the Minoru Complex where future fitness spaces will be located provided an opportune location for a photo with Mayor Brodie and City Councillors to highlight the spectacular views that users will enjoy from the new facility.
Construction is well underway on the new 110,000 square foot multipurpose complex that will house aquatic and fitness services, seniors services and amenities to support the surrounding sports fields. Vertical concrete works started mid-April 2016 and will continue throughout the fall. This includes interior walls, floors, stairs and pool tank concrete works.
Visitors to the site will soon notice the removal of the large crane that has supported this phase of the facility construction. Its removal will make way for work to begin on the sweeping structural steel and timber roof that will be a striking architectural feature of the building design.
Construction of the new facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
